Back when KAZUKIN was young, there was one watch quietly shining on my wrist.
The NIXON THE VENTURE.
A choice between it and THE CAPITAL
At the time, my watch for going to work was almost always one of two.
The THE CAPITAL I wrote about before, or this THE VENTURE.
The silver dial blended naturally with a suit—not too flashy, yet with real presence.
Reassuring 100M water resistance
What was especially reassuring was the water resistance.
100M water resistant.
Come summer, KAZUKIN enters his annual “torrential sweat mode.”
You can't tell whether it's rain or sweat.
Daily-life water resistance?
That can't possibly fight this.
THE VENTURE struggled every day on that harsh wrist environment for me.
Differences from THE CAPITAL
The difference from THE CAPITAL is not just the silver dial.
The glass is designed slightly lower than the case, so it doesn't scratch easily even when bumped.
For people who use their watches hard, this difference is surprisingly welcome.
It also has a light that illuminates the dial when you press a button.
You can check the time quickly even in dark places, so it was quietly handy at night and in movie theaters.
Which one is deteriorating?
Looking it up, this THE VENTURE is apparently a model from around 2004.
In other words, a watch more than 20 years old.
Even so, it still keeps accurate time.
And when I press the button, the dial lights up just like back then.
Nothing has changed from 20 years ago.
...
It's KAZUKIN who has deteriorated.
The watch is still active after more than 20 years.
KAZUKIN, meanwhile, now adds “something hurts” just by waking up in the morning.
Maybe this contest was decided from the start.
That's why every time I put this watch on, I think:
A good watch keeps not only the time but the memories.
And THE VENTURE still quietly does its job in KAZUKIN's collection.
