Recently I bought a G-SHOCK for the first time in a while.
The GAW-100B.
The price, if I remember right, was about ¥18,000.
I own a white one too. But black is good
Honestly, I already own a G-SHOCK.
I even have a white GAS-100B, which looks very similar.
White is good in its own way.
It looks especially great in summer, a bit sporty and fresh.
But.
Black is good too.
It's overwhelmingly easy to match.
It goes with any clothes.
Work or days off, strap it on and it somehow works out.
Even when KAZUKIN's own outfit loses its way a bit, the watch alone ties it all together.
Black G-SHOCK is excellent.
It's not just a color change
At first glance, this GAW-100B
looks like a mere color variation of the GAS-100B I own.
“You have a white one and bought a similar one again?”
I can't blame you for thinking that.
No.
It's different.
This one has
radio-controlled solar.
Yes.
No need to set the time.
Plus solar.
Even if the watch drifts, I don't have to fix it myself.
KAZUKIN's life is off in all sorts of ways, but at least the watch snaps back to accuracy on its own.
Wonderful.
Localized downpour around the wrist
And the biggest reassurance a G-SHOCK gives me.
It's still that it's strong against water.
I sweat a lot.
Especially in summer.
With a watch on, the area around my wrist gets properly drenched.
It's not the level of “I sweated a little.”
It's practically a localized downpour.
Only the underside of the watch has entered the rainy season.
With a mere daily-life-water-resistant watch, I suspect you'd want to complain to the manufacturer,
“This isn't the usage environment I was told about.”
In that respect, the G-SHOCK is great.
Sweat?
Go ahead.
Rain?
Go ahead.
Water?
Bring it on.
It has that kind of vibe.
Of course that doesn't mean you can treat it roughly, but this overwhelming sense of trust really is big.
A watch you don't have to worry about is strong
And it's black.
Dirt is less noticeable.
It's easy to pair with clothes.
Radio-controlled solar means no time setting.
And above all,
it's just plain cool.
This much reassurance for about ¥18,000.
I bought a G-SHOCK for the first time in a while, and I think again.
It doesn't have the allure of a luxury watch.
But still,
“Will it rain today?”
“Will I sweat?”
“Will I bump it?”
A watch that doesn't make you fret over such things is, after all, strong.
Especially for KAZUKIN, who generates localized downpours around his wrist in summer.
