A seasonal menu I found at Komoro Soba: “Spicy Meat Tsukesoba.”

Honestly, I ordered it with not much expectation, thinking “it's seasonal, let me try it.”

But it was good.

First, the richness of the dipping sauce surprised me

What surprised me first was the richness of the dipping sauce.

Inside the sharp spiciness, the savoriness of the meat and the sweetness of the fat come through solidly; it's not just spicy. At the first bite, I thought, “Oh, this is pretty good.”

Dip the soba and that rich sauce clings just right.

It has meat in it too, so with the soba it's satisfying. It's hard to tire of as you eat, and before I knew it I'd finished in no time.

It's seasonal, but make it a regular

Seasonal menu items often end at “tried it,” but this was a little different.

It's good enough that I think they could make it a regular.

Standing, a quick bite

And in true Komoro Soba style, you eat standing, quickly.

Even so, good is good.

If anything, slurping it standing during a break from work and thinking “this one's a hit” feels just right.

If it ends as seasonal-only, I'd like to eat it at least once more.

Spicy Meat Tsukesoba is good, right?
