For the past few years, KAZUKIN's favorite family restaurant has been COCO'S.

I've of course known COCO'S for a long time.

I know the yellow sign.

I know it exists.

And yet, somehow I never went in.

It wasn't that I disliked it; it was just a strangely disconnected family restaurant.

But in recent years, some trigger got me using it, and I finally realized.

COCO'S is good, isn't it.

I noticed quite late.

The hamburger steak is also simply good

Starting with the hamburger steak, the regular meals are simply good. The menu is extensive too, handy when the family says “what shall we eat?”

There's one item KAZUKIN took a liking to at COCO'S this summer.

The shaved ice.

Fluffy ice, and then whipped cream

It's good.

First, the ice is fluffy.

Unlike old-fashioned crunchy shaved ice, it melts away smoothly in your mouth. And on top, plenty of whipped cream.

Whipped cream on shaved ice.

The combination of cold ice and rich cream is really good.

You then keep eating while adding sauce and condensed milk.

Nice, right?

It's just huge

But this shaved ice.

There's something that surprises you before the flavor.

It's huge.

It looks big in photos, but when the real thing is brought out, the impact is beyond expectation.

The moment it's set on the table,

“Ohh!”

It feels less like a dessert was brought and more like a small mountain was delivered.

Be careful ordering after a meal

And because of this size, there's one thing to be careful about.

When ordering after a meal.

After eating a solid meal like hamburger steak,

if you casually order thinking “it's shaved ice, so I can manage,”

you notice something wrong in the second half.

It doesn't shrink.

I'm eating.

I'm definitely eating.

Yet when I look up, the mountain is still there.

I eat more.

Still there.

“I've eaten quite a lot by now, haven't I?”

Thinking that, I dip the spoon in again.

Still there.

COCO'S shaved ice is formidable.

KAZUKIN, who was high-spirited in the first half—“Fluffy! Delicious!”—goes silent in the second half and enters the work of chipping away the mountain.

Is this dessert?

Or mountain climbing?

And by the time I finish safely, what remains isn't the feeling of having eaten after-meal dessert but the sense of accomplishment of having finished a job.

Summary

Still, I like that overwhelming scale too.

Your spirits lift a little the moment you see it, it's properly tasty, and in the end it's so huge it's a little funny.

As a dessert at a family restaurant in summer, it's a truly fun item.

Next time I want to take it on leaving a bit more room in my after-meal stomach.

...Though I'll probably order it again after a normal meal.

COCO'S shaved ice is great, right?
