While tidying the closet, I found a skateboard I hadn't ridden in years. The deck is naturally beat up, but picking it up after so long, I felt as if a bit of the old sensation remained in my fingertips.
About the days I was hooked
I was into skateboarding from my twenties into my thirties. On days off I rode hard at the neighborhood park, and I still remember the sense of achievement when I could finally ollie. My feet drifted away at some point, but just looking at the gear brings back the excitement of those days.
I tried other action sports too
Looking back, there was a time I tried many action sports besides skateboarding.
Basketball, which I started in middle school, taught me simply the joy of moving my body.
In winter I got into snowboarding too, learning the feeling of sliding even as I fell on the slopes.
Surfing, including the time waiting for waves, has a feeling of balancing on a board that feels close to skateboarding.

Summary
I feel that in every sport, the sensation of balancing on a board is shared. First I'll renew just the wheels and bearings, and try riding at the neighborhood park for the first time in a while.
